5 Ways Mary Embodies the Feminine Divine
Mother Mary is often painted as a perfect, glowing figure. She truly IS the ultimate holy mother. But let’s take a step back and remember: Mary was human, and that’s what makes her story truly profound. She wasn’t just an icon draped in heavenly robes—she faced real struggles and persevered through extraordinary challenges.
Imagine being a young, unmarried woman in ancient times, suddenly visited by an angel with life-changing news and - BAM - you’re going to give birth to a child destined to change the world. The weight of that responsibility would be overwhelming for anyone. Mary, however, leaned into her calling with strength and grace, navigating the societal pressures and personal sacrifices that came with her role.
Her story is not about unattainable perfection but about courage, faith, and resilience. Recognizing Mary’s humanity allows us to connect with her on a deeper level. She wasn’t distant from life’s hardships—she lived them, embraced them, and transformed them into a legacy of love and compassion.
Alex and I were invited to explore the “human side” of Mary tonight through a work shop by Rev. Debra McKnight and Rev. Dr. Jane Florence, using Debra’s Mama Mary Guide. We were asked to discover Mary as both a parent and a practitioner of faith. Their workshop included a guided art time craft where we painted an oracle card that resonated with us. It was a chance to reflect on her story and our own spiritual journey.
Personally, I would love to embrace more of my “Mary Energy.” She is, after all, the embodiment of the Feminine Divine. Her story invites us to reconnect with our inner strength, compassion, and creative spirit—qualities that can guide us through life’s challenges and joys. By channeling Mary’s energy, we can find balance between our human experiences and spiritual growth.
